FFL Transfer Service

We provide Firearm Transfer services for the Southeastern Louisiana area. Whether you are receiving a firearm from an out-of-state dealer, or you are shipping a firearm to an FFL dealer, Jefferson Gun is able to meet your needs.

FFL transfer of firearms purchased from private individuals or through auction sites on the internet can be handled by Jefferson Gun for a fee of $35.00 per firearm. NRA members receive a discounted fee of $25.00 per firearm after providing an NRA membership number.

Stop by our retail location and get a signed copy of our FFL and send it to the seller along with your payment. Upon requests, we will fax a signed copy of our FFL to the dealer (Note: Some dealers will only accept original signed copies of the FFL). Once the seller receives your payment and a copy of our FFL, the gun will be sent to us. Upon receipt of the gun we will log it into our books and contact you (Be sure the dealer includes your contact info). When you come in to pick up your firearm, you will complete the firearm transfer form and we will run the NICS background check while you wait. Upon receipt of the NICS approval we will deliver the firearm to you.

If you are transferring a firearm out of the state, there are many great resources on the internet to find an FFL Dealer to handle the transfer (Remember, a firearm can ONLY be shipped to someone who holds a Federal Firearm License). We will charge shipping and a $15.00 flat fee to ship your firearm to the dealer of your choice. Listed below are places where you can search for an FFL Transfer Dealer:

Consignment

We are able to sell your used firearms for a nominal fee. Bring your firearm to us and we can sell it for you through our consignment program.

•Bring the firearm you want to sell to our retail location at 501 David Dr.
•We will help you price your firearm if you're unsure about an asking price.
•Once in consignment, we will have your firearm on display in our store.
•When the firearm sells, we will contact you and write you a check.

We charge a 10% fee on your asking price of the firearm or a $35.00 flat fee (depending on whichever one is higher). The fee will be added onto the asking price of the gun, and we will collect on the fee only if your gun sells. If your firearm does not sell within a reasonable time, you can come and pick up your gun or lower your asking price. Note that a $15 handling fee will be assessed if the firearm does not sell.

Note: All consignment firearms are subject to the same federal, state, and local laws that are applied to new firearms, and their disposition meets all legal requirements. A State-issued ID is still required to purchase handguns and a 4473 ("Background Check") must be completed at the time of sale.
